The TOP 10 CFP Programs

With hundreds of programs available, choosing the right CFP® program can be a daunting task. Whatever you do, make sure that the curriculum you enroll in is a CFP Board-Registered Program. Choosing the right CFP® program will be dependent on your needs and what the program has to offer.

Comparing TOP CFP Programs

The best thing to do when choosing which CFP® program to go with is to do exactly what you're doing now. Research.

Research is going to help you get a better idea what each program has to offer. Also, you will start realizing what is important to you and what you're looking to get out of the program. Of course, the end goal is a CFP® designation, and you may be thinking I don't care how I get, but the truth is the process is just as important.

The CFP® exam is known to be a challenging exam so if you just go with any program (or the cheapest) you are doing a disservice to yourself and you will spend extra time, money and heartache.

The first thing you should do is look internally. Ask yourself what is important to you? How do you learn best?

Consider answering these questions:

How much time am I willing to put in per week?

How do I learn best? (self-paced or structured)

Which learning format do I prefer? (online or in-person)

What is my budget?

Do I need the physical books or can I do with the content online?

What is my time frame?

After answering these questions, you should contact the program directors of the 4-5 top CFP® programs you've narrowed down to and get more information.

Questions to consider asking the program director:

What are the credentials of your faculty? Are they all CFP® certified

How long, on average, does it take to complete your curriculum?

How much does your program cost? Does it include books, tests, review course

Once you get your questions answered, try to weigh the pros and cons of your top choices and choose the one that feels best for you.
